What is the mission of the Beaver County Educational Trust?

The mission of the Beaver County Educational Trust is to broaden the opportunities for educational experience and cultural enrichment in ways that may be unattainable for individual schools, to inspire higher levels of motivation and achievement for students, and to build a reputation for Beaver County as a leader in quality education. Our function is to evaluate the unmet needs for quality education in the County, to provide leadership in developing programs that will address such needs, and to generate and administer the necessary funding.

The Trust also will serve as a trustee for various memorial funds that are or may be established in the future, which will provide scholarship opportunities to our students.

I pay my property taxes each year to fund education. Why should I give more to this Organization?

School districts operate on a relatively-fixed source of revenue, which are property taxes paid by residents and business of that area. This revenue is budgeted to provide for the obligation of educating our youth.

However, too often, property tax revenue does not allow for the funding of additional educational opportunities for students and teachers. To obtain the best possible results from our students, sometimes, we must operate outside the budgetary box. The Trust allows you to support academic excellence.

How do I know the money will be spent properly?

Requests for funding must follow specific criteria and a set process for review and evaluation. All funds are administered, invested and distributed by the Board of Directors.

All checks and drafts on accounts and transfers of funds shall be signed by the President and the Treasurer. Annually, the books of the Trust and the Treasurer will be audited by an independent public accountant.
