BCET Attends Beaver County BookFest

This year Bookfest included a wizardary theme to it, taking from what is sure to be a classic to future generations. The BCET was ecstatic to attended. While there, board members passed out age appropriate books to kids under 5. The other goal was to inform the public about the BCET "Growing with Books" program and encourage participation.

BCET to Give Out FREE Books @ BC Bookfest

The Beaver County Educational Trust will be giving away free books to kids 5 and under in the Children's Tent. This year in the Children’s Tent, wannabe wizards can take part in the BookFest Wizard Academy, where they can create their own magic wands, create potions, and much more. BookFest will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Beaver. Besides receiving a FREE book from the BCET, attendees can meet more than 60 authors who will be signing and selling their books. The festival also features a number of food vendors and literary-themed retail vendors. Admission is free to the public.

Heritage Valley Health Systems Gives to Growing with Books Program

Heritage Valley Health Systems graciously gave $5,000 to the BCET Growing with Books program for 2017-2018. The literary program that sees participants, who are children under 5, receive an age appropriate book twice a year has seen it's numbers grow. On average the program costs $30,000 per year, with costs expected to rise in 2018. The BCET is very appreciative of the donation and is still in need of additional funds. BCET Celebrating National Reading Day with Fundraiser @ Kretchmar’s Bakery

National Reading Day is March 2nd a.k.a, Dr. Seuss' Birthday. In honor of Dr. Seuss and National Reading Day, the Beaver County Educational Trust has partnered with Kretchmar's Bakery to collect donations to help the Growing with Books program. Kretchmar's Bakery will be giving out a FREE Thing 1 & Thing 2 Cookie or Cupcake with every donation of $2 or more.
