Calling all scientists, engineers, naturalists, and teachers of tomorrow. Join us for a week-long journey investigating areas of STEM. Campers will participate in scientific experimentation and learn to use scientific methodology; while exploring the various fields of science such as chemistry, biology, physics and more! Campers are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and explore all the ways that science can captivate and make a difference in everyday life! Robotics (ages 8 to 10) Use The LEGO® Mindstorm Invention Kit to design and build a robot!  Use RCX programming code to make it operate as you wish. The programming language used by LEGO® was developed with the MIT Media Lab. Can your robot navigate through the maze without stumbling? On the last day of this camp, teams will compete operating robots through an amusing obstacle course. On a daily basis we ask students to work together to complete tasks using paper and pencils. As we move further into 21st Century Learning, the way students interact, communicate, and problem solve become more and more complex. It is also more challenging to engage students in the learning as they become more driven by technology. Wonder Workshop robots are a fun and interactive way for students to learn how to code, work together, and problem solve using 21st Century technology and skills. Needs: Students will learn how to code the robot and develop their coding skills so that they can launch a ball, play the xylophone, and sketch a picture using Dash. First IMPACT Awarded!

The first Richard Shaw IMPACT Grant has been awarded to the Beaver Area School District's Dutch Ridge Elementary. Steven Katkich, Assistant Principal, completed the grant request for $5000 to help fund "Farm Lab". The overall project is to create a green house at Dutch Ridge Elementary to allow the study of environmental conditions, farming, composting and recycling with students in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades.
